What Do Students Say?

  • “Dr. Fisher is an incredible, passionate teacher with a genuine love for his teaching that shines through every single moment of instruction in the classroom. I have never had a teacher this passionate and engaged in what they teach, and it made the class challenging, intellectually stimulating, and, above all, enjoyable. I looked forward to class every day and did all the reading each day. This was the best class I have ever taken, and I would take many more classes with Dr. Fisher if given the opportunity.”

  • “Dr. Fisher is easily the best professor I’ve had in college and I am a junior, about to be a senior. He facilitates lectures that are thought provoking and cares about the opinions of his students. He creates an inclusive environment for all students to feel comfortable sharing out and to learn about race issues in the US. I have learned SO much in this class because of the way it is structured and how knowledgeable Dr. Fisher is on these topics and beyond.”

  • “[Professor Fisher] was a good teacher, he gave space for us to be relational, but he also kept us on track with the movements of the case study and always kept us on point to the practice of putting our questions in theological terms - even though sometimes we would have to help one another figure out how it was theological. We made it through a couple big events in the world, such as the presidential election, and rumors of war. [He] kept this in the awareness of the class without allowing our conversation to totally digress. I felt this was a helpful space to work on theology in. It was a good group and [he] did a good job facilitating so that everyone was able to contribute.”

  • “This instructor was the best instructor I have ever had at SJSU. Dr. Fisher's strength is the way he is able to work a classroom. I always know what he expects as he sets clear expectations beforehand. His directions are clear and precise. He is incredibly good at what he does and watching him simply speak is pretty inspiring.”

  • “This was by far the best course I have taken at AU. Dr. Fisher is so knowledgeable and knows how to communicate with his students. He pushed me to do my best in the course and was very clear about his standards. The subject material was so interesting and I have learned the most I've ever learned from a course in this class. He is truly so passionate about the topic and he makes his students just as passionate. Best class with the best professor.”

  • “…I found [the Black Lives Matter] course to be immensely helpful in broadening my understanding of our world and how some of my peers have to operate within the confines of a system that was not created with them in mind. Should be required.”

    ~Undergraduate Student

  • “I really enjoyed class with Dr. Fisher. He fostered an inclusive class environment and encouraged us to collaborate in group activities, ask questions, disagree, and try to apply the concepts/content to everyday life. He was also extremely helpful outside of the classroom at his office hours. You can tell that he really cares about his students’ intellectual growth. I would definitely recommend Dr. Fisher as an instructor, and I would certainly take another course with him if I had the opportunity.”

    ~Undergraduate Student
